Standard Liege RSC Charleroi match preview

This match marks the beginning of the Belgian playoff for the champions, more precisely the league with six clubs, which have won the best positions through the regular part of the championship. Still, as for Standard and Charleroi, it is difficult to get in the fight for the title, especially Standard, which has from the last sixth position jump in the playoffs, while Charleroi is third with four points, after the number of points won was double the less in the regular part. Standard is in the better form, which has three wins in a row, and Charleroi is mostly playing draws lately. Both of their mutual duels this season ended with a draw.

Standard Liege

Standard is entering this playoff from the last sixth position, but it should be said that this team can play without any pressure, because placement in Europa league this season was already ensured, given that they won the Cup of Belgium. They cannot fight for the title because they have a big 12 points behind the leader and can possibly get to the second position and qualifications for the Champions League, even though that position is six points away.

The fact that they have no pressure should make the job easier, but they should also take advantage of the good form in which they are currently in and they have played six games without defeat. Watching only the championship, they played seven matches without defeat, which led them to sixth position, and we expect changes in the composition as compared to the team which defeated them in Genk in the Cup finals with 1-0 after extensions.

Probable lineups Standard Liege: Ochoa – Cavanda, Luyindama, Laifis, Fai – Marin, Cimirot – Edmilson, Carcela-Gonzalez, Mpoku – Edmond

RSC Charleroi

Charleroi was a pleasant surprise this season and they were fairly constant, as they spent most of the regular part of the championship in the second place on the table. Their best placement was fourth place, and they even spent one round in the second place on the table. They have only lost five games and only the leader Club Brugge lost less, but they are also recorders with 12 draws, however, the problem is that they played the finish of the regular part of the championship rather weak. Last victory was made late in January against Mouscron, and then there was an incredible series of six unresolved results, after which they lost to Kortrijk.

Because of everything they now have eight points less than the leader and it is difficult to reach them, but they can get involved in the fight for second place with Anderlecht, because they are only two points away. After the home draw with St.Truiden without goals, coach Mazzu only made changes in the midfield and attack, but it did not help against Kortrijk where they lost with 2-0. We expect the first shooter and assistant Rezaei would return to the starting lineup, and maybe even more changes.

Probable lineups RSC Charleroi: Penneteau – Marinos, Dessolell, Martos, N'Ganga – Diandy, Hendrickx – Fall, Benavente, Fortuna – Rezaei

Verdict:

Standard is in a better form, but without the overwhelming imperative, which the guests also do not have, who have already switched this season's plan, but Charleroi wants to finally play an offensive match, so we expect them to score some goals.
