Sevilla Valencia match preview

This is a derby between the neighbours on the table, which occupy fifth and fourth place, but of course this is a big difference because Valencia holds the position that leads to the Champions League, while Sevilla is at the place that brings only Europa League. The difference in points is also significant because the guests have won eight points more and are certainly in the psychological advantage, and are in better shape with a series of five games without defeat, of which four are victories. Sevilla is playing in two more competitions, but they were able to record two victories in the championship. In the first part of the season, Valencia celebrated with a 4-0 over Sevilla.

FC Sevilla

Playing on three fronts has certainly affected Sevilla’s performance and it was felt the most in the championship, where they are fifth, although they expected more. At least the fourth place was the minimum and given that it is currently occupied by Valencia, it it clear what value would the victory have in this match, though the difference would then be five points. In the event of a defeat, they can say goodbye to the placement in the Champions League, which they are still playing this season and in a couple of days, they will have a rematch in the round of sixteen against Manchester United.

They have outplaced that team in the first match at home, but it still ended with 0-0 and it is clear that they will have a difficult task. After a debacle against Atletico they managed to celebrate two times without receiving a goal against Malaga and Athletic Bilbao, and they did not have any major injury problems after the recovery of J.Navas, who should stay on the bench.

Probable lineups FC Sevilla: S.Rico – Layun, Lenglet, Mercado, Escudero – N'Zonzi, Banega – Vazquez, Correa, Sarabia – Muriel

Valencia

The crisis has definitely passed for Valencia and after a series of defeats that cost them the loss of third place and the elimination from the Cup, they are now back in a positive series of five games without defeat, where they also played one draw, but in an unpleasant hosting in Bilbao two rounds ago. Before that they celebrated three times, against Levante, Malaga and Real Sociedad, and in each of these games, they received one goal as well as against Athletic when it was 1-1. In the last round, they also celebrated a victory over Betis on their field, but this time without any goals scored.

It was 2-0 and they have routinely won these three points, with goals scored in the middle of the first and the beginning of the second half. The worst thing about this game is that Santi Mina got injured, and it is interesting that the second goal was scored by Zaza, who replaced him at the end of the first half. Montoya returned to the right-back, Soler and Guedes in midfield and Rodrigo in the attack. Now, besides Santi Mina, they also cannot count on Gaya on the left-back, so Lato jumps in, which means that R.Vezo could be again on the field.

Probable lineups Valencia: Neto – R.Vezo, Murillo, G.Paulista, Lato – Parejo, Kondogbia, Soler, Guedes – Rodrigo, Zaza

Verdict:

This match is very important for Sevilla, which has the imperative of victory in order to try to reach Valencia and we believe that the Andalusians will celebrate in front of their supporters, and at least somehow revenge to the “Bats” for a serious defeat in the first part of the season.
