PSG Real Madrid match preview

It cannot be said that the 1st leg of the big derby of the round of 16 was decisive in regard which team goes to the quarter-finals, but it certainly brought a nice advantage to the reigning champion of Europe. Real won by 3-1 after turning the result up-side down, which is a huge advantage in matches like this one, although PSG is good enough team to annul any gain that Real made. Since the 1st leg PSG won three league matches and one in the Cup, while Real won four La Liga matches and lost one.

Paris Saint-Germain

It is quite expected that PSG has no real opponent in France and this team firmly marches toward winning all three titles. Champion title is practically won, as PSG has big 14-point advantage, it reached the semi-final in the Cup and it is finalist of the League Cup. However, all those successes lose in value if PSG gets eliminated from the Champions League, which is quite probable after defeat in Madrid.

PSG should have done better in the match especially it took the first lead which was supposed to bring psychological advantage. However, they totally lost focus in last 10 minutes and consequently paid a heavy price. In the meantime PSG won four matches by sound results although Neymar got injured and is out of action right now. Mbappe is questionable too, who had to leave match with Marseille earlier as he complained about injury.

Probable lineups Paris Saint-Germain: Areola – Dani Alves, T. Silva, Kimpembe, Kurzawa – Verratti, Rabiot, Draxler – di Maria, Cavani, Mbappe (Pastore)

Real Madrid

Real redirected all his power to the Champions League as the race for the champions title in Spain was lost a long time ago. In the meantime Real had one mishap and lost to Espanyol, but it should be said that a combined team was on the pitch and it was visible that the Madrilenians are not overly interested about the match. They shouldn’t relax that match as it is questionable will they manage to again reach the Champions League, given that 3rd-placed Valencia breathe down their neck as it has just one point fewer.

After victory over PSG Real won three league matches, and demonstrated remarkable efficiency as it scored 12 goals, although it conceded by at least one goal in each of those matches. It lost to Espanyol by 1-0 thanks to the goal scored in last seconds of the match. Last weekend they won Getafe 3-1 at home but it wasn’t an easy match for them. The strongest team didn’t play as Modric and T. Kroos are out of action for some time now. Manager Zidane had shuffled his deck of cards a bit and rested several players. Kroos and Modric have recovered in the meantime and could play in this match.

Probable lineups Real Madrid: Navas – Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo – Casemiro, T. Kroos, Modric – Ronaldo, Bale, Asensio

Verdict:

PSG has nothing to wait for in this match although it cannot count on its first star. It has to annul minus of two goals and an early goal would be ideal beginning but Real has its say too. If it scores one goal it would be a great step toward next round, and consequently we predict a goal fest.
