Real Madrid Espanyol match preview

Duels between teams from Madrid and Barcelona are always very interesting, although this is not a big derby. Still, when looking at the situation on the table after four rounds, it turns out this is really a derby, because Real is second and Espanyol is fourth. The host of this spectacle has celebrated three times and once was a draw, with a victory in the Champions League, while Espanyol has no European commitments and they have celebrated twice in the championship with one draw and one defeat. Last season, these rivals have both made home triumphs in their mutual duels.

Real Madrid

It is still difficult to give a real score for Real at the start of the new season. They lost the European Super Cup from Atletico, after which they made three routine victories, but they were objectively much weaker against their rivals, despite having achieved ten goals in these three games. Their first serious rival has caused them first problems when it comes to the championship and they only played a draw in Bilbao against Athletic.

They received a goal after half an hour of the game, then they equalized after the same amount of time, but in the remaining half an hour they did not come to a turnover. They are already behind two points for Barcelona, with the proviso that they played a great match at the start of the Champions League and celebrated over Roma with 3-0. Compared to Bilbao, Navas was on the goal, and Isco and Casemiro in midfield. Maybe their coach Lopetegui now refreshes the composition again.

Probable lineups Real Madrid: Courtois – Carvajal, Nacho, Ramos, Marcelo – Casemiro, Modric, Isco – Asensio, Benzema, Bale

Espanyol

Espanyol has played solidly in the first four rounds, more precisely there are no objections in two domestic duels, because they celebrated without any goals received in both. One of the rivals they defeated was Valencia, a participant of the Champions League, and this is a particularly valuable triumph, to which they came after a good draw against the always unpleasant Celta. After defeating Valencia with 2-0, they have played the weakest match so far, as guests against Alaves.

They also managed to take the lead at the end of the half-time in that duel, but in the second they dropped and received two goals in just two minutes of time and were defeated. Coach Rubi has expectedly after Valencia, decided to play in the same composition against Alaves, but it was interesting that after a defeat in that match, he did not decide to change anything for their duel against Levante at home. It went well because they scored 1-0 with Sergio Garcia and all five goals were scored by different players. Center-back Da.Lopez is out of action, while O.Duarte has recovered.

Probable lineups Espanyol: Di.Lopez – Javi Lopez, O.Duarte, Hermoso, Didac – Roca, Darder, Granero, Baptistao – Sergio Garcia, Iglesias

Verdict:

Real has dropped the first points in the last round, but then they were really great in the Champions League and we expect them to continue in that style in this match. Espanyol is solid at the beginning of the season, with the proviso that this is their first harder hosting and they will to do more.
