Second semi-final match of the Turkish Cup is another clash between two city rivals, Fenerbahce and Besiktas. Every option is on the table regarding reaching the final given that the 1st leg played at the beginning of March ended as draw 2-2. Both teams are still in the race for the title of Turkish champion and we need to add that both their league matches played this season had ended as victories of home teams.
Right because of that Fenerbahce fans believe that their team can win the great city rival, although in order to reach the Cup’s final it is sufficient for Fener to play goalless draw or 1-1. We have said in the introduction that the 1st semi-final leg played at Besiktas stadium ended as 2-2 draw, in which Fener had a lead of 2-1 at the halftime, but after sending off goalkeeper Demirel and midfielder Potuk they conceded the second goal in the finish of match.
In the meantime Fenerbahce had plenty of up-side downs in the league but after the latest series of three wins and several mishaps of its direct competitors, it is in situation to even race for the title of Turkish champion. True, five rounds before the end of season Fener occupies mere fourth place in the table and has three points fewer than leading Galatasaray and two less than Besiktas and Basaksehir. Let’s add that only defender Isla is not fully ready for duel with Besiktas.
Probable lineups Fenerbahce: Demirel – Ozbayrakli, Neustadter, Skrtel, Kaldirim – Topal, Souza – Dirar, Giuliano, Chahechouhe – Fernandao
Regarding reigning champions of Turkey, the 2nd semi-final lag of the Turkish Cup comes for them after three-game winning streak in the league, which propelled them to the second place in table and now Besiktas has just one point fewer than leading Galatasaray. We have said before that two more teams are also in the race for the title, including Fenerbahce against which Besiktas will try to reach the Cup’s final, regardless that the first match ended as draw 2-2.
We all know that Besiktas is very much capable to triumph at Fenerbahce stadium, although it is definitely a very demanding task, especially as their city rivals are in a great shape at the moment. Manager Gunes has stated that his team doesn’t have much room for tactic and he announced maximally offensive approach from the first minute. Regarding problems with absences, still out of action are injured stopper Nukan, midfielder Kavlak and forward Love.
Probable lineups Besiktas: Fabri – Gonul, Pepe, Tosic, Adriano – Medel, Hutchinson – Quaresma, Talisca, Babel – Negredo
After the 1st semi-final leg played at Besiktas stadium ended as draw 2-2, it is quite logical to expect to see fully open and efficient match at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul.
