AC Milan Atalanta match preview

Milan played one match fewer than Atalanta. Besides, the Rossoneri play better and better recently, as they won two and drew one match, while the guests from Bergamo come to the San Siro after two defeats in a row. Let’s add they drew three out of their last four head-to-head, while Atalanta triumphed in Milan 2-0 last year.

AC Milan

Milan management announced that the team will give its maximum on Sunday in order to finally win Atalanta, especially, as we have said in the introduction, they are at the moment in a bit better shape than their guests. Team led by manager Gattuso lost only once, at the beginning of season to Napoli 3-2 away and despite having a lead of 2-0, while after that they won two and drew one match.

The firstly won Roma 2-1 at home and drew with Cagliari 1-1 away, while on Thursday evening at the start of the Europa League they struggled but won away debutant from Luxembourg Dudelange 1-0. True, Gatusso sent on the pitch in that match practically Milan’s reserve team, while now against Atalanta we expect to see currently the strongest one. Out of action are injured defenders Conti and Strinic, midfielder Montolivo and young forward Curtrone.

Probable lineups AC Milan: G. Donnarumma – Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez – Kessie, Biglia, Bonaventura – Suso, Higuain, Calhanoglu

Atalanta Bergamo

Speaking about the guests from Bergamo we should say that unlike Milan they will not compete in the group phase of the Europa League as they were eliminated in the qualification play-off by Danish Copenhagen after penalty shootout, with which they drew both times by 0-0. Before that they were better in preceding qualifying rounds from Bosnian representative Sarajevo and Israel’s Hapoel from Haifa. In first two league rounds Atalanta was up to task as it won Frosinone 4-0 at home, and drew with Roma 3-3 away.

It seems that matches with Copenhagen have left their scar as after elimination from the Europa League they lost steam in the Italian championship, where they firstly lost to Cagliary 1-0 at home, while last weekend SPAL defeated them by 2-0 in Ferrara. Right because of that we expect from manager Gasparini to make several changes in the starting line-up that will face Milan. Injured stopper Varnier is the only one who is out of action.

Probable lineups Atalanta Bergamo: Gollini – Toloi, Palomino, Masiello – Hateboer, de Roon, Freuler, Pasalic, Gosens – Zapata,  Gomez

Verdict:

Atalanta didn’t lose last six matches with Milan, we predict that the tradition is about to be broken on Sunday evening, given that the Rossoneri are at the moment in a bit better shape than their guests from Bergamo.
