Atletico Madrid Arsenal match preview

First match has brought a lot of excitement for these rivals and that is what was expected, given that many have said that this is finals before the finals. The match in London ended with a score of 1-1 and Atletico could be much more satisfied, but not just for the results, but also because of the fact that they remained with lesser players on the field practically at the very beginning of the match. Meanwhile Atletico celebrated as guest in the championship and kept second place on the table, while Arsenal was defeated at Old Trafford. It is interesting to note that Atletico and Arsenal have not met before.

Atletico Madrid

In the first game, Atletico has once again demonstrated their strongest weapon, which is a defensive football in a situation when things on the field are not going in their favour. Already at the tenth minute, they were left with lesser players on the field because of two yellow cards for Vrsaljako and they knew how difficult it would be against Arsenal but they were set very well, while their brilliant goalkeeper Oblak managed to stop all the attempts of the host.

There was no panic and when they received a goal and then in the finish as a reward for great effort, Griezmann has scored the equalizing goal, but he was really lucky. All this was achieved without the help of coach Simeone, who was removed from the bench for protest. Right now the problem is a right-wing position, because Vrsaljko cannot play, and Juanfran is injured and Thomas will probably jump in that position. Meanwhile, they defeated Alaves with 1-0.

Probable lineups Atletico Madrid: Oblak – Thomas, Godin, Savic, L.Hernandez – Saul Niguez, Koke, Gabi, Correa – Griezmann, Diego Costa

Arsenal

Arsenal, on the other hand, certainly regrets that they did not celebrate in the first match, because they have really had a good opportunity to solve everything at their stadium. They had more players on the field throughout the match and they definitely had to make better use of that. It is not very comforting that they are a better rival, and they missed two good opportunities while their rival was still complete, but they were very inefficient, the opposing goalkeeper was defending almost everything and Atletico has only once scored the net.

Half an hour before the end, Lacazette took the lead and had to at least keep that score, however, unimaginable mistakes in defence have cause them to receive the goal and now they have to fix everything in Madrid. They may have a bigger motive because it is certain they will remain without the Champions League next season unless they win Europa League and so on Sunday against Manchester United they played in a combined team and once again they won one point, but they received a goal for 2-1 in injury time. The good news is that Mkhitaryan recovered.

Probable lineups Arsenal: Ospina – Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal – G.Xhaka, Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil – Welbeck, Lacazette

Verdict:

Atletico has the advantage, but Arsenal will not surrender easily and we believe that the guests can score a goal against the solid hosts. Atletico should be able to score in front of their fans and it might be an interesting game.
