Atalanta Sampdoria match preview

This Sunday’s match of the 27th round of Italian Serie A is clash between two teams positioned in the upper part of table, where 8th-placed Atalanta currently has six points fewer than 6th-placed Sampdoria. Besides, the team from Genoa is in a bit better shape at the moment than its rival from Bergamo. Sampdoria won Atalanta 3-1 at home in the first part of season.

Atalanta Bergamo

On the other hand Atalanta won Sampdoria at home last year, which is why its fans believe their team should win now, especially as the victory would put it again in the race for European positions. The team from Bergamo was recently eliminated from one of those competitions, the Europa League, by Borussia Dortmund, while last week they were eliminated from the Coppa Italia after losing the 2nd semi-final leg to Juventus 1-0.

Elimination from these two competitions is perhaps a good thing for Atalanta at the moment as it could be noticed that players are tired from playing on so many fronts, which can be best seen through fact that out of last five games they drew only drew matches and lost two. True, Atlanta wasn’t defeated in the league in last four rounds and for the time being it is doing well in this competition. It will quite surely play offensively against Sampdoria from the first minute, especially as only midfielder Rizzo and forward Petagne are questionable for this match.

Probable lineups Atalanta Bergamo: Berisha – Toloi, Caldara, Palomino – Castagne, de Roon, Freuler, Spinazzola – Cristante – Ilicic, Gomez

Sampdoria

We have said in the introduction that the guests from Genoa are in a bit better shape than its rival ahead of the Sunday’s match, especially as after last week’s home victory over Udinese they still occupy the sixth place in the Serie A table. True, 7th-placed Milan has the same number of points and Sampdoria will have to work hard if it wants to qualify for European competitions, especially as their next rival Atalanta shares the same ambition, and has just six points fewer.

Sampdoria suffered its only defeat in last seven rounds of the Serie A right by Milan away, while out of six remaining match it won even four and drew two. Right because of that we believe that team led by manager Giampaolo will play very bravely against Atalanta, which also prefers offensive football. Let’s add that not fully ready defenders Sale and Beresczynski, and midfielder Ramirez are questionable for Saturday’s match.

Probable lineups Sampdoria: Viviano – Andersen, Silvestre, Ferrari, Murru – Barreto, Torreira, Linetty – Caprari – Quagliarella, Zapata

Verdict:

Although both teams typically play much better at home, fact that Atalanta is tired from playing in several different competitions could be very important factor and consequently we have opted here for a pick with goals on both sides.

Pick: both teams to score 1.75 - 75/100 @1XBet
